Shannon Schuren

Shannon Schuren works as a children’s librarian at a public library and writes from a cozy she-shed in her backyard. Her short stories have appeared in various journals such as Toasted Cheese Literary Journal, Big Pulp, and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. Her debut young adult novel, The Virtue of Sin, is about a young woman raised in a patriarchal cult where women’s voices are suppressed and the prophet’s word is sacred. Shannon has never joined a cult, but might be tempted if they serve gluten-free cookies. She lives in Sheboygan Falls, WI, with her husband and three children. Her second young adult novel will be published by Philomel in the fall of 2020.  Follow her on Twitter @shannonschuren.

Festival Testimonials

Loved the experiences in the ARTery, loved the presentations about the craft of writing and publishing. Gorgeous venues and well-done festival. Well-staffed, very nice venues. Will come again next year from Minnesota – well worth it.
Have loved the festival all these years.
...I loved seeing how the artist does her drawing because I want to be an artist when I'm older.
