Sheboygan Teen Book Fest to Feature John Corey Whaley, Julie Halpern, and M. K. Wiseman

SHEBOYGAN (May 17 2017) — Sheboygan County Reads!, the non-profit organization which promotes the love of books and reading among local youngsters and teens, has revealed three presenters for the 2017 Sheboygan Teen Book Festival. The book festival, set to take place October 13-15, will include John Corey Whaley, Julie Halpern, and M.K. Wiseman.

Whaley’s first novel, Where Things Come Back, won the 2012 Printz Award and the 2012 Morris Award. His second novel, Noggin, was a 2014 National Book Award finalist and his third novel, Highly Illogical Behavior was an NPR Best Book of 2016 and a YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults pick for 2017.

Halpern has authored six young adult novels, winning a National Alliance on Mental Illness Ken Book Award for Get Well Soon and a South Carolina Young Adult Book Award for Into The Wild Nerd Yonder. Her newest book, Meant To Be, will debut at the Sheboygan Teen Book Festival.

Wiseman is a Wisconsin author who drew from her Croatian heritage to develop The Bookminder, the first installment in a 17th-century fantasy series. She has also contributed to Mechanized Masterpieces: A Steampunk Anthology and Mechanized Masterpieces 2: An American Anthology.
